Sundsvall Elnät is investing in new communication equipment to enable the company to improve the collection of measured values from its new electricity meters. At the same time, the company is taking the opportunity to connect existing electric power-quality meters to the new communication infrastructure.

“The new communication equipment assists us in getting an instantaneous overview of the electricity grid,” says Erik Runa, Operations Engineer, Sundsvall Elnät. “When troubleshooting, we can see the voltage level at all substations, which enables us to detect deviations quickly.”

Metrum’s meters record electric power quality, voltage, current and the total electric load at the substation. Long-term data, events and reports are then presented by Metrum’s DB Viewer system, while real-time values of voltage, current and total electric load are displayed in the SCADA system.
